The Octopuse
Tell me, O Octopuse, I begs,
Is those things arms, or is they legs?
I marvel at thee, Octopus;
If I were thou, I'd call me Us.

The panther is like a leopard,
Except it hasn't been peppered.
Should you behold a panther crouch,
Prepare to say Ouch.
Better yet, if called by a panther,
Don't anther.

The Duck
Behold the duck
It does not cluck.
A cluck it lacks.external image 220px-Red-crested.pochard.slimbridge.arp.jpg
It quacks.
It is especially fond
Of a puddle or pond.
When it dines or sups,
It bottoms up.external image duck.jpg

A Caution to Everyone
Consider the auk;

how to fly, and could only walk.
Consider man, who may well

Interpretation- I think the first poem is about how many apendages an octopuse has because it states "arm, or they legs".
The second poem is probably how you should not hunt panthers.
The third poem is about how ducks quack.
The forth is about how humans could be exterminated from Earth.

Figuritive Language: I found a simile on the Panther- "The panther is like a leopard."

My poem is a hiaku poem because it talks about nature.

The mood is both funny and meaningful.

I chose this poem because it goes with animals & I like animals.

I chose the pictures of a duck, a panther, an octopuse, and an auk because the poems are about those animals.

The author of all these poems is Ogden Nash. He was born in 1902, and died in 1971. His poems were loved for generations. At first he worked and taught in advertising. He intentionally used inproper grammar.
